SUMMIT One Vanderbilt: The Ultimate Proposal Destination

SUMMIT One Vanderbilt isn’t just known for its breathtaking views—it's also one of the most romantic places to propose in New York City. Since its opening in October 2021, I’ve had the privilege of capturing countless proposals here, and there’s truly no more magical place to pop the question than 1,100 feet above the heart of Manhattan.

One of the most common questions I get from clients is: "What time should I book for our proposal?" While every time of day offers its own unique charm, there are a few factors to consider that will help you choose the perfect moment:

Early Entry Proposal

For those looking to enjoy SUMMIT before the crowds arrive, the ‘Early Entry Package’ option is a fantastic choice. Available as a premium experience, this allows you to access the observation deck at 8:45 AM—15 minutes before the general public. You’ll have the entire space to yourselves, offering a rare opportunity to experience SUMMIT in complete privacy.

Proposing 1,100 feet above the city, with just your partner (and your photographer, of course) by your side, is an unforgettable moment. You’ll be able to walk through Affinity (the Instagram famous balloon room) without any distractions, resulting in some of the most striking and intimate photos of your engagement.

Daytime Proposal

No matter the time of day, SUMMIT offers incredible 360-degree views of New York City, making it a perfect spot for your proposal. Whether it’s morning or afternoon, you’ll have the chance to capture your special moment with iconic landmarks like the Empire State Building and Central Park in the background.

While ‘Early Entry’ guarantees full privacy, I always strive to capture your proposal in a way that minimizes background distractions, ensuring your photos are as intimate as possible—even during busier times of the day.

Sunset Proposal

A sunset proposal is a classic choice, but I recommend booking your time 15-30 minutes before sunset to take full advantage of the golden hour light. This gives you a chance to capture a stunning range of images as the light softens and the city begins to glow. While we can’t guarantee a perfect sunset every time, SUMMIT offers a remarkable backdrop no matter the weather.

Night Proposal

New York City’s skyline comes alive at night, and there’s no better time to propose than when the city’s lights are sparkling below you. SUMMIT’s two most iconic rooms, Transcendence and Affinity, feature mesmerizing light shows that begin once the sun sets, perfectly complementing the glittering city lights. This creates a truly magical atmosphere, offering one of the most unique and stunning backdrops for your engagement photos.
